What's A Fanlisting?
Definition from TFL.org:
A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country.
The Baroque Era
The Baroque was a Western cultural era which began around the beginning of the 17th century in Rome. The word probably derives from the ancient Portuguese noun barroco which is a pearl of unpredictable and unusual shape. Hence, in informal usage, the word baroque can simply mean that something is elaborate.
The characteristics of Baroque style were drama and grandeur in sculpture, painting, literature, dance, and music. It was encouraged by the Roman Catholic Church which had decided, at the Council of Trent in the mid-16th century, that the arts should communicate religious themes. The aristocracy saw the Baroque style of architecture and art as a means of impressing visitors and expressing triumphant power and control. Baroque palaces are built around an entrance of courts, grand staircases and reception rooms of sequentially increasing grandeur.
Art, music, architecture, and literature inspired each other as artists explored what they could create from repeated and varied patterns. Some traits and aspects of Baroque paintings that differentiate this style from others are the abundant amount of details, bright colours, less realistic faces of subjects and an overall sense of awe, which was one of the goals in Baroque art.

Why make this fanlisting?
I began to explore the characteristics of the Baroque era whilst doing research for a story that I'm writing for fun. Whilst finding out about everyday life and customs during this period, I also came across much of its art, architecture and music in the process. I had already encountered Baroque music in the past through singing and playing piano, but my appreciation and understanding of it deepened. I noticed that other eras were represented at TheFanlistings.org so I decided to start one for the Baroque era.
